The CIOR military pentathlon is a competition among reserve officers from across NATO, consisting of five events. Different NATO countries host the competition each year. The Masters group is for competitors 35 and older.

Harris and his U.S. CIOR military pentathlon team, consisting of two Air Force Reserve officers and himself, became the first Americans ever to win the Masters at the CIOR competition, in 1977. Pictured is the cup he won, together with the invitation to the Gala Ball where the awards were presented. Harris’s mother and father were in attendance.
